LIZZ ASTON
Exploding Lace View
By altering line, shape, volume, repetition and scale I am able to deconstruct these formal patterns in unexpected ways to create three-dimensional, large-scale sculptures. In my work, I am interested in bridging gaps between traditional textile practice and contemporary art and design. Focusing on themes surrounding knot-work and interlacement, my work examines the ways in which people respond to subverted textile objects as they are taken out of context and placed in new and interesting spaces.
