WORKSHOP: Flower Pounding on Cloth - Saturday, Nov. 4th
Learn how-to create beautiful botanical monoprints on paper and cloth using a little bit of elbow grease, noise and fun! :)
Flower pounding is a direct printing method that involves pounding fresh botanical materials to create one-off prints. In this live Zoom workshop, we will explore a range of techniques for creating crisp floral monoprints on paper and cloth. Participants will learn how to prep fabrics to make them more colour-fast when working with non-natural dye materials, explore post-mordant dips to strengthen and shift the colours and discuss how to wash and care for printed fabrics. The workshop will begin with a presentation and plenty of material samples, tips and techniques to get everyone started before hosting our very own ‘flower pound-along’! Pick up a bouquet of flowers and get ready for Flower Pounding on Cloth. All skill levels welcome!
This is a 1.5-hour live workshop hosted on Zoom. The workshop includes a material list of everything you need to get started, a PDF of technical notes and a link to the live zoom class sent out ahead of time.
