Flower Pounding Tutorial (PDF)

Flower pounding is a direct printing method that involves pounding fresh floral and botanical materials to create one-off prints on cloth. This tutorial includes a downloadable PDF of step-by-step instructions, images and technical notes of the Flower Pounding process.

Tutorial instructions include a materials list, specific supplier info, how to scour and pre-treat your fabrics to ensure better colour and lightfast-ness of your prints, as well as instructing on post-mordant dips to shift and strengthen the colours. This tutorial provides a list of tried and true floral and botanical materials that have worked well for me, and gives prompts for different ways of experimenting with creating beautiful one off prints on paper and cloth!
